| Claire is a petite girl, standing at 5'3". She is of medium, athletic build, seeing as her cheerleading and gymnastics has made her muscular, as well as flexible. She is pretty thanks to her long, thick naturally curly blond hair, muted green eyes, and fair skin. Her face is slightly 'chubby'/round, a bit flat and wide set. She has no scars (thanks to her powers) and is unable to keep tattoos. |

Before the discovery of her special abilities, Claire was like any other teenage girl. She enjoyed the social aspects of being pretty and popular, friend to many and not overly restricted to one crowd. It was always important to maintain the look of normalcy. When it was discovered that she wasn’t, in fact, normal, Claire had no intentions of ever revealing her powers to anyone, out of fear of their reaction (and assumed rejection). However, since realizing that people like her shouldn't have to hide or be afraid, she is now willing to share the knowledge of her powers in order to help others out, determined to be a hero. She abhors the knowledge that she will ultimately live forever and watch those around her die. The fact that she will never age is a nuisance, in that people mistake her for a teen-aged girl. For now, it’s only a minor annoyance, but when she’s “30”? “100”? It will become tiresome. She doesn’t want her apparent age to get in the way of relationships, both plutonic and romantic. That is, when she’s willing to make a connection. At one time she held fast to her walls, unwilling to make friends or find significant others when she’d only lose them in the end, but she strives to be emotionally mature and more able to bringing these walls down.
She displays both bravery and humbleness. Amongst her heroic acts is when she saved a man from a burning train wreck. While she had an ulterior motive to test her powers, she later kept them a secret when the police came knocking, showing she doesn’t always care to stand in the limelight. This incident, as well as when her friend Jackie was being attacked by Sylar and Claire tried to intervene, displays her altruistic inclinations. Claire has never really grown out of the drive, the need, to find new ways to test her abilities. From her 'attempt' tapes to randomly mauling her body, she pushes her limits at all costs.
Claire is stubborn as all hell. She doesn’t always know when to back down or accept an answer she might not necessarily want. She is a very determined and independent being with a curious nature, something that drove her to further explore aspects of her powers. Claire is by no means a shy person, but she is more prone to being secretive than the majority of her peers. She has no trouble being by herself for lengths of time, creative enough to keep herself occupied. She is intelligent, at most times loyal, and polite. She almost always exudes an air of bubbliness when surrounded by her friends, but there is much more to her than the average pom-pom shaker. Befriending Zach Craley (a boy considered to be non-popular and labeled freak and gay amongst other stereotypes), she proved to be a lot more considerate and friendly than others in her social circle. Zach was the closest thing to a best friend she had throughout her high school years in Odessa, someone she trusted enough to share her secret with. She is extremely easy to get along with and is quite friendly. More often than not, she puts others before herself. She also has the appearance of sweet naïvety of the young and innocent, but she does possess a darker side.
She has on more than one occasion displayed this darker side, a side that only seems to come out when either herself or loved ones are being victimized. For example, in a desire to teach her would-be rapist a lesson, she falsely seduced Brody so that she could drive his car into a wall and paralyzing him, putting a halt to his disgusting behavior before any other girl could get hurt. Another fine example? She stabbed a pencil into Sylar’s eye. She can be sarcastic and spiteful at the drop of a hat. She can be selfish; She needs people to be proud of her. She needs love. Though Claire cannot be physically harmed, emotionally she has an overbearing need to feel accepted by others. Maybe it’s the fact that she was adopted or maybe it’s the loss of so many in her life. Everything she does, she does whole hearted, something that is borderline obsessive. And she can be bitter. Her bitterness results from Noah and his numerous lies throughout her life (toward not just herself, but her family as well), and from Sylar and all that he has done to her, from the constant hunts to killing her biological parents.
It should be noted that Sylar is a huge weakness in Claire’s life. He went from being someone who used to hunt her relentlessly and caused endless fear to being someone who made her realize she’s special, that she won’t die, and that their fate is forever entwined. When everyone is gone, they will still remain. She has to decide if she will hold this hatred in her heart forever, literally, or learn to move on. He had displayed a new side to her when he sought her help, revealing that they had more in common than she wanted to admit. He, more than anyone, understands her, and she in turn understands him. Though able to relate on some level with others who have abilities, no one can understand what it is Claire has gone, goes, and will go through like Sylar can. Even if he savagely stole her ability. It is not beyond her to hold a grudge. Noah Bennet would know all about those.
POWERS Rapid cellular regeneration - Claire is an evolved human who can rapidly heal from any injury done to her body. Recovery varies from seconds to minutes. This power alters her tolerance for pain to a point where she hardly feels it at all. Her healing ability is powerful enough to undo most damage: 'spitting out' a bullet to the chest, wounds healing shut, etc. It has been discovered that she can 're-grow' severed body parts, something she learned after testing her ability when she cut off a baby toe. It should also be noted that her ability stems from the brain in such a way that if the brain's communication with the body is cut off, Claire "dies," unless whatever restriction that is lodged into the brain is removed, or in case of severance, the head is re-attached. She is immune to illness/disease, does not scar, and does not age.

Claire's fate is tied to the fate of the entire world, according to the "Save the Cheerleader, Save the World" prophecy.
When Claire was just a baby, she was involved in a horrific fire 'accident' in her mother's apartment, something everyone thought left no survivors. When Noah Bennet was sent to "bag and tag" the bodies, he discovered baby Claire and took her home. Claire didn’t know she was adopted until well into her adolescent years, over a conversation with her adoptive father when she was helping him pick out glasses, a condition she was curious about being passed onto her.
Despite her claims that she wants to be normal, she tends to enjoy using her powers, testing how far she take it. When she was in high school, she revealed her secret to childhood friend, Zach, and made a documentary of how many times her survived death. During their grade school years, Zach and Claire were really close, but upon entering high school, she became popular and he became a 'geek/loser.' Despite this, Claire knows she can trust Zach, the revelation of her powers having brought them closer since. One incident of note on this 'anti-death' tape, is a train wreck in which Claire tests her ability against fire (again unbeknown to her). While running into the burning wreckage, she finds a man in one of the cars and helps him to safety. When the firefighters checked her for burns, she had none. To avoid attention or interrogation, she runs off and keeps quite the next day when when the police show up at her school to question the cheerleading squad. She takes no credit for the rescue and instead her cheerleading 'friend' Jackie does, becoming the new hero that Claire seems so intent on avoiding.
Claire has since 'died' once, during a team spirit bonfire. Hoping to hook up with quarterback Brody Mitchum, they begin to kiss and flirt off from the others, but Brody goes to far and tries to rape Claire. During the struggle, though, he knocks her into some tree branches, one of which impales her head. Her body is found naked and dumped into a river and taken in for an autopsy. After the branch is removed, Claire comes back to life and is able to sneak off back home (as the coroner had conveniently stepped out of the room to take a phone call). The next day, Brody is shocked and confused to see Claire alive, but thinks he must have had far too much to drink the previous night and therefore imaging things. That same day, Claire learns she isn't the only girl Brody tried to/did rape and this outrages her. Set on revenge, she plays last night sweetly and as foggy memories and asks for a ride home with Brody. He lets her drive after she asks and once inside the car, she confronts him. But he denies it at first and then later shows no regret and this pushes Claire to crash the car into a wall at high speed. At the hospital, Claire (completely unhurt of course) confesses to her father about what Brody tried to do to her. Furious, Mr. Bennet arranges to have Brody’s memories erased thanks to his associate known only as The Haitian. Claire knew nothing of her father’s knowledge of people like her.
Soon after her release from the hospital following the crash, Claire is able to meet who she thinks are her biological parents, but are in fact people Mr. Bennet hired to play Claire's parents. He does this to protect her from knowing that there are others out there like her, that her parents have powers as well. The meeting is of course a disappointment a Claire was hoping to discover why she is the way she is, only to hear her "parents" are as normal as the next.
The night of the homecoming game, Claire is grounded for punching Jackie after the girl taunted Zach about his sexuality. What she thinks is cruel and unusual punishment is again her father's way of protecting her as that is also the night a man named Sylar was prophesied to kill Claire and steal her powers. Mr. Bennet knows this from a painting he bought off of Isaac Mendenez, a man with the ability to paint the future. However, Zach is able to convince her to sneak out, and once again things go terrible wrong. At the game, Claire meets Peter Petrelli, who has shown up at the school with the knowledge of Issac’s paintings as well as the warnings from Future!Hiro to "save the cheerleader." Hiro is a man with the ability to teleport and travel through time. Not knowing who it really was and only judging by what he saw in the newspaper about the train wreck rescue, Peter believed it was Jackie he had to save. Sylar makes this mistake as well and tries to kill Jackie. When she tries to intervene, Sylar throws her against a wall. As he cuts open Jackie's head and Claire watches on helpless, he realizes he has the wrong cheerleader when he sees Claire heal from the injuries given to her via the wall throw. She is able to escape into the hallway where she once again bumps into Peter who realizes it's Claire he needs to save. Fleeing outside, Claire runs for help while Sylar 'kills' Peter. Claire comes back for Peter and discovers he can heal himself just like her, when it's really his ability to absorb the powers of those around him kicking in.
During her search for help, Claire sees her father and confesses to everything, only to learn that he's known all along and has tried since to protect her. She later learns that her mother, brother, and Zack have had their memories erased and at one point, The Haitian was supposed to erase hers as well. However, he tells her a higher up says she needs to remember and pretend to have forgotten.
Two weeks after the incident, Claire struggles with once again being alone and having the burden of a secret. In front of her father, she pretends that she doesn't remember anything the Haitian was supposed to erase. She tried to reconnect with Zach, but between his lack of memory and resentment over the way their friendship ended in grade school, he was not interested. Eventually, Claire is able to regain Zack as a friend, though, and once again shares her secret with him. With him, she searches for information on her biological mother and discovers a Meredith Gordon, a woman reported to have died in a fire along with her eighteen-month-old daughter. Claire contacts her and finds out it is in fact her mother.
Meanwhile, the continued memory wipes performed on Claire's adoptive mother, Sandra, start to a take a toll and it lands her in the hospital. When they return home, the Bennet family is held up by Ted Sprague (a man who can manipulate radiation) and Matt Parkman (a man with the ability to read minds) who are just looking for answers as they recall being kidnapped by Mr. Bennet and his Haitian. In an attempt to secure the safety of their family, Claire and her father convince Matt to shoot her to get Sprague's trust. She attempted to free her family after she regenerated, but was captured by Sprague who was pissed off. His radiation powers go violently out of control and Claire is the only one able to tranquilize him and stop the deadly radiation from getting worse or spreading. When she emerges from the house unharmed, one of Mr. Bennet’s superiors sees her and orders that Mr. Bennet turn Claire over to their employers. In the end, an elaborate escape was staged in which The Haitian shoots Mr. Bennet in order to make it look like he wasn’t involved to helping his daughter to safety and then wipe his memory so Mr. Bennet is unaware of his daughters whereabouts.
Claire was supposed to flee the country with The Haitian using fake identifications, but she gave him the slip at the airport and instead goes off in search of Peter. At his apartment, she discovers Peter's mother, Angela Petrelli, who reveals herself as Claire's grandmother. Angela further tells her of the correspondence she's had with the Haitian in order to keep her safe. To continue with keeping her safe and to avoid any scandal on the election of her son, Nathan Petrelli (and Claire's real father), it has been arranged for Claire and Angela to go to Paris until after the election.
Two days before New York was to be blown up, Claire was still staying in the Petrelli Mansion. She watched as her father Nathan greeted his wife, Heidi Petrelli, and their two boys, Monty and Simon, upon their return to the mansion, although Claire was not introduced to them. Later, Claire and her grandmother, Angela Petrelli, begin packing her bags for Paris. Peter walks into the room and talks to Claire about destiny, although she is convinced the best way for Nathan to protect her is to fly to Paris. Claire tells Peter about Ted Sprague, after Peter reveals he will likely "go nuclear" and destroy half of New York.
Peter and Claire confront Nathan about Ted; with someone else capable of manipulating radiation, Peter is hopeful the explosion can be prevented. Nathan remains doubtful, pointing out that Peter's vision was of his own explosion. Peter reminds Nathan that he had a vision of flying as well, despite the fact that it was Nathan who could fly - a fact that impresses Claire and further restores hope as she now knows both of her biological parents are like her and special. At one point, Nathan is seen talking with Thompson, whom Claire recognizes as her adoptive father's boss and the man she is running from. This instills distrust in Claire and later Peter.
Peter gives Claire a handgun, telling her she is the only person who can get close to him if he begins to explode. He instructs her to shoot him in the back of the head, a spot she knows will prevent him from healing. She reluctantly agrees to carry the weapon. The pair recognize a location from one of Peter's drawings of Ted, and decide to look for him. While waiting for Ted to appear, Claire and Peter discuss how their powers have changed their lives. Claire then sees Mr. Bennet walking with Ted and Matt Parkman. She runs to her adoptive father as Peter and Matt acknowledge each other. Meanwhile, Peter notices his hands begin to glow as he absorbs Ted's power. Mr. Bennet orders Claire to leave the city with Peter and Ted who are on to Nebraska when Peter hears Sylar's thoughts and they hide in a building upon realizing he is nearby. When they re-emerge, Ted is arrested by the FBI. Whilst on his way to a holding facility, the FBI truck transporting, Sylar forces the vehicle to crash and murders Ted, stealing his abilities.
Upon receiving the news of Ted's death, Mr. Bennet requests that Peter stay with his daughter at all times and he agrees. Claire, however, feels betrayed when, instead of finding Sylar on their own, Peter drives them to a parking garage where Nathan is awaiting their arrival. Firm in her belief that they cannot trust him, Claire sneaks out when Peter leaves her in the car to speak with his brother, only for her to run into her grandmother, Angela Petrelli. Angela and Nathan have plans to leave the city with Claire to Nantucket but when she finds out that they knew about the impending explosion all along and are more than willing to let it transpire, she jumps out of Nathan's office window. Healing, she runs off to Kirby Plaza where she catches up with Peter who is about to explode.
Mr. Bennet hands her a gun to shoot her uncle just as she had promised, but Claire hesitates, pleading with Peter that there must be another way. Nathan flies down in between them at that moment and agrees with his daughter. Claire and the others can only watch as Nathan flies away with his brother into the stratosphere where Peter then explodes, saving New York City but possibly sacrificing her birth father's life in the process.
After the would be tragic death of her father and uncle, Claire reconciles with her adoptive father and they make plans to reunite with the rest of their family. Four months later, she moves with her family to California, under the false name of "Butler." She is assured by Noah that she'll be fine, who also warns her not to stand out, lest the Company discover their new hiding place.
She attends Costa Verde High School and quickly meets West Rosen, who nearly runs her over when she accidentally runs in front of his car. Following her father's advice she initially does nothing that makes her stand out, but things soon change when she discovers that West can fly, more elegant and Peter Pan-like, verses Nathan's flight ability. She is thrilled to have someone to talk to as well as someone else who is “like her.” When talking about their abilities, Claire notices marks on his neck, and he recalls an experience with a man with horn rimmed glasses. To hide her relationship with West, Claire lies to her father and tells him that she has joined the cheerleading team. However, her plan backfires when she doesn't make the squad. To pay back the captain of the squad, Debbie, for being so rude and judgmental, Claire and West play a prank on Debbie while she is drunk, causing her to get kicked off the team, and thus, opening up a spot for Claire.
Claire and West continue their relationship and he meets Sandra. Later, West sees Noah and thinks he is after Claire, but Claire tells him that he is her father. Thinking it is a trap, he flies away. Noah shows a newspaper article about her prank, and warns that the family is no longer safe and that they must move. Claire tells him that if they do, they are leaving without her.
At school, she is contacted by Bob at her cheerleader practice. He slips up and calls her "Miss Bennet," and Claire runs home. When she arrives home, she sees her father's laptop open with the image of the Mendez painting that shows his death. Claire then warns her mother that her father was right and they need to leave town immediately, but Bob shows up with a gun, and surprisingly, Sandra recognizes him as the Regional Sales Manager for Primatech Paper. Bob takes Claire with him as a hostage, and conveys to Claire how valuable she is to them, and takes some blood from her. Bob then uses her in exchange for his daughter, Elle, whom Noah has kidnapped. Once she reaches her father they hug briefly then he pushes her into West's arms so he can fly her to safety. Unfortunately, Elle is able to zap West and Claire, which sends them plummeting to the earth. Mohinder shoots Noah in the eye and kills him. Claire tries to run to her father’s side but West intercepts her. They land at her house and Claire is left with the task of telling her mom and brother that her father was murdered. She regrets that her last words to him were “I hate you.”
Bob delivers an urn with Noah's ashes to the Bennets. Claire, her family and West scatter the ashes into the sea. She tells her father that she should have listened to everything he said. When she sees Elle in a car spying on them, she confronts her, punching her hand through her car window and threatening to expose the Company. Claire goes through Noah's paperwork, preparing to go public with her ability and expose the Company's secrets. While packing up her father's files to bring down the Company, West arrives and tries to stop her from revealing his secret. Angered, she gives him his file, and tells him "there is no 'us' to worry about anymore." Afterward, Noah returns home, revealing to his family that he is still alive, thanks to Claire's regenerative blood. He tells Claire not to expose the Company, and informs her that he has made a deal, and will again be working for them. In exchange, his family will be left alone to lead normal lives. Claire’s father, Nathan, decides instead to go public with his abilities, but he is shot and Claire is silenced and terrified.
Months later, Claire is attacked by Sylar while home alone. Though she manages to stab him in the chest, Sylar knocks her out by throwing her to the wall. He then opens her skull in order to view her brain and absorb her power. While peeking at her brain, he reveals that Claire is more "special" than she actually realizes and no one, not even Sylar, can kill her. Sylar replaces the top of Claire's skull and leaves Claire clutching a stuffed bear as she sits trembling upon the living room table. Later, Lyle and Sandra come home to find her there.
** Because Claire has such a long history, it is continued HERE & HERE. And I'd say HERE is another great reference since we see eye to eye on most things Claire.
